Infectious Disease Modelling and Epidemiology

About the group

The group's research uses data-driven approaches, in particular mathematical modelling and statistical analyses, focusing on research questions of operational and policy relevance for the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a group of diseases which typically affect the world’s poorest communities.

We are particularly interested in evaluating the complex relationships between community infection dynamics, individual history of infection (for example number, duration, and intensity of infections experienced) and morbidity, both long and short-term for NTDs. We are also very interested in zoonotic diseases, in particular multi-host systems, partitioning of host contribution to transmission and quantifying the ongoing morbidity burden from zoonotic transmission for certain NTDs, as well as the obstacle non-human reservoirs may present to interruption of transmission.
